Monsoon, Friends, Bike…Matheran

I was sleepy. Wasn’t bother for time. Whatever it would be. And…my cell rang. Oh! Why didn’t I put it on silent mode? Screen was flashing Klapesh name and time was running at 9:00 am. “Bhai, gumne chalna hai, bike pe ek seat khali hai.” Kalpesh asked in his distinctive style. The initial and obvious reply of mine was no. “Wait, I call you in ten minutes.” I added in confusion. As I was already awakened now, I decided to join them. I asked that where we were going and when would we come back. Nothing was planned.
We four people me, Kalpesh, Suresh and Dhaval, was riding on bike. “Let’s go to Matheran” Kalpesh announced excitingly and our one more unforgettable journey began with everyone’s okay. Climate was already in monsoon mood, but rainfall was on halt. After filling fuel in Bike, as soon as we drove on Dombivali-Kalyan highway rainfall started. We took a halt and kept our cell phones and valets in plastic bags. Finally we moved ahead enjoying rainfall. Considering safety Suresh and Dhaval were driving safely. Changing frames of natural beauty, cold wind, face kissing raindrop, flourishing greenery, earthy smell, everything was in perfect harmony.
Around half hour later we took break for tea.
We ride nonstop towards Neral. The real challenge was going to began now. For our driver it was to drive in Matheran’s hilly area and for us, me and Kalpesh, to hold breath and trust them. But our rider showed their real ability and kept right attitude. On the way we met one truck, moving ahead of us. Familiar people must be knowing that how roughly local cabbies do drive their vehicle while coming down. So to be at safe side we chose to stay behind that truck. Noticing our idea one more driver of Mruti chose to stay with us, as if he was appreciating our idea. On the way once our both bike stopped moving. On the way we noticed beautiful rainfall and decided to shower while returning. Finally we reached Dasturi safely. Joy and sense of achievement we all were feeling was bouncing on our face. As this was our first such an experience and now on will be beginning of the others.
After parking our bikes we paid for tourist tax and moved ahead in Matheran.
On Dhaval’s wish we started our photo session from Matheran’s railway station ‘AMANLODGE’. Once monkey tried to snatch our bag of cell phone from Suresh’s hand, but thank God he didn’t succeed. We had some tea over their. As Dhaval was getting late we had to return immediately. We thought that now getting down will be more difficult. So we started carefully. But after some time we come to know that actually it’s easier. Just you have to control your bike properly. As decided before we took halt at waterfall and had some Dhamal and photo session. Then we again we started to move.
Along with enjoying natural beauty we sang some melody songs. We had tea on the same spot of before. Finally when rain stopped for some time we speed up and get back Dombivali by 3:20 pm.
